Today we announced that the location of our next data center will be Clonee, Ireland. We’ve already started construction on the site, which will be our second data center in Europe and our sixth in total. When it’s finished, the data center will be powered by 100 percent renewable energy, making good use of Ireland’s abundant wind resources. This will help us reach our goal of powering 50 percent of our infrastructure with clean and renewable energy by the end of 2018.

The facility will be one of the most advanced data centers in the world, featuring OCP server and storage hardware, including Yosemite for compute and fabric, Wedge, and 6-pack in the network stack. It will be a central part of Facebook’s global infrastructure, making it possible to deliver our family of apps and services to billions of people. To keep up with the construction of the site, like our official Clonee Data Center page.
